ProcedureThe portrait procedure begins with a discussion between the artist and client at either the clients location or the artist's studio. During the time, the mood, setting, size and price of the portrait is decided.
The artist then holds one photographic session of about one hour. He may also do some quick sketches to capture likeness and characteristics of the subject. The artist then selects three to five photographs to be used as references and discusses them with the client. It is important to understand, that, except in the case of posthumous portraits, Carey does not work from photographs other than those shot by him. The way Carey photographs is guided by his sensitivities as a painter, and observer of people. With the client's approval, the artist proceeds with the portrait at his studio. An approximate date of completion is given - usually four to six weeks after the portrait is started. Fees
Add 50% of the above price for each additional figure. Travel, framing, tax and shipping expenses are in addition to the prices listed above. Sizes are approximate. A signed agreement and a deposit of 50% is required prior to beginning the portrait. The balance is payable upon acceptance of the completed work.
